Meet the Team

“Damian Gravely and Antony Paine at Gravely & Paine (GP Sevens) have unrivalled experience, knowledge and a real passion for all things Seven”

Damian Gravely

GP Sevens – Owner

With over 25 years of motor trade experience Damian started off his automotive career in 1992 with a 5 year apprenticeship with Rolls Royce and Bentley qualifying as senior technician.

He moved to Caterham Cars in 1999 for the position of Workshop Manager responsible for all pre owned car preparation and servicing. Progressing through the company leaving as the UK Sales Manager responsible for all new and pre owned car sales in 2013.

Working from home buying and selling Caterham it was then time to make a business of what has been a passion and a big part of his life, which is where Chapman Cars came in, now reborn as GP Sevens!

Favourite Caterham – Superlight R – Old school, enough power and performance to both scare me and put a big smile on my face at the same time!

Favourite car – Porsche Carrera GT – Typical Porsche, a mentally fast and capable Super car with German quality engineering!

Favourite road moment – Blasting down the perfect driving road the A272 at 6 o’clock on a Sunday morning on my way to a Goodwood Breakfast meet in a Caterham Superlight R, awesome!

Favourite circuit moment – Flat out through Stowe corner, Silverstone in the Caterham Superlight R500 ‘mule’, a mixture of fear and exhilaration!

Antony Paine

GP Sevens – Owner

Having been involved in the launch of the then new MINI back in 2001 for parent company BMW, Antony then progressed from MINI Park Lane, London to prestige brand BMW in the heart of the City of London.

A move to super car manufacturer Porsche in Mid Sussex was followed by finally moving to the manufacturer of the legendary Caterham Seven and Caterham Cars in 2005. Joining Caterham as the Senior Sales Executive then Business Manager and leaving as the UK Sales Manager at the end of 2014.

The obvious next move for Antony was to join forces with Damian and start the next chapter with the opening of Chapman Cars now GP Sevens!

Favourite Caterham – 420R – The perfect blend of power, torque and handling the ideal Caterham for those Sunday morning Blats or epic Track day’s!

Favourite car  – Ferrari 288 GTO – The car I had as a poster on my wall as a boy! Would like an F40 parked next to it in the garage though!

Favourite road moment – A long weekend away to the Nurburgring with my Caterham colleagues driving there and back in a Caterham CSR 260 Superlight.

Favourite circuit moment – Flat out through Eau Rouge in a brand new Porsche 997 Carrera S the day after I picked it up from the factory in Stuttgart. A great way to run the car in!

Craig Standivan

GP Sevens – Workshop Manager

With 10 years experience at Caterham Cars, Craig knows all you need to know about servicing, maintaining, upgrading and setting up your Caterham Seven for Road or on Track.

Starting off as a Caterham Apprentice he then became a Service and Race technician and then the Press and Demonstrator Technician responsible for looking after the fleet of Caterham Sevens that you see online and in all of the magazines!

Favourite Caterham – Superlight R500 ‘Evolution’, Minister engined, 250bhp, 9,400 rpm rev limit, 475kg, Arch chassis, the ultimate performance and handling Seven, nothing is quicker or scarier?

Favourite car  – Fiat Cinquecento Sporting 1.1, my first car, loved it!, Caterham Superlight decals and scraped it for just £20, big mistake.

Favourite road moment – Warming up a Caterham 620R on the B roads on the way to a Press Day at Donnington Circuit, of course I had to check everything by pushing the car to the max.

Favourite circuit moment – Passenger ride around Dunsfold Aerodrome’s ‘TOP GEAR’ test track being driven by a Pro driver in a Caterham 620R! Constantly sideways, 4 wheel drifts and at some points all 4 wheels off the ground, awesome.

Zak Berry

GP Sevens – Senior Technician

Favourite Caterham – HPC – 175bhp of Vauxhall red top power, reliable, driveable with huge performance! Back in the day you had to take a High Performance Driving Course course before taking delivery and the HPC was born!

Favourite car – Jaguar XJ220 – As Clarkson put it “It came, it conquered and no one noticed” With it’s ‘Speedtail’ futuristic design and Turbocharged V6 producing 550bhp it was a car before it’s time!

Favourite road moment – Thrashing my Caterham through the lanes on my way home from GP with the top down and doors off!

Favourite circuit moment – Flat out around Brands Hatch Indy circuit for the first time, this is what driving is all about!

Daniel Snowden

GP Sevens – Apprentice

Favourite Caterham – 160 A back to basics Caterham with skinny tyres, solid rear axle and engine placed as far back as possible. As a bonus it makes turbo noises too.

Favourite car Datsun 240ZG A difficult question this, the 240ZG was a homologation special for Japans GT racing championships of the time featuring the very sought after ‘G nose’ body kit, factory arch flares and headlight covers making it infinitely cool in my opinion.

Favourite road moment – Getting in my 1990 Mazda MX5 for the first time after passing my driving test.

Favourite circuit moment – Overtaking 3 MX5’s in a row in my dad’s Toyota MR2 at Brands Hatch on the exit of Clark Curve.

Robert Clark

GP Sevens – Delivery and Collection Driver

Favourite Caterham – Classic – Any classic, the sound of carbs when pulling away and the fun of tuning them to get the best performance out of the engine.

Favourite Car – Mini – Small city car that can comfortably seat 4 and is more comfortable and feels more spacious than modern cars.

Favourite Road moment – Riding a motorcycle though the twisting roads of the Himalayas with shear cliffs on one side and wall of rock on the other.

Favourite Track moment – Full throttle round the first bend of brands hatch making the instructor in the passenger seat push the imaginary brake.
